Have I mentioned how much I love my little girl? I DO! I love her as high as I can reach, as high as I can hop, across the river and over the hills, and right up to the moon and back...I think you get the point. I will share with you a few of the moments I loved spending with my funny Valentine this month.
Lillian and I were sickies at the beginning of the month. I secretly kind of enjoy it when Lillian is sick because it is the only time she will sit still long enough for me to cuddle her. So in between running to the bathroom to ralph or cleaning vomit up off the floor, I enjoyed just holding her in my arms for a day. On our quick trip to the store for Powerade and Sprite, we ran into the Budweiser Clydesdales and were able to see them unharness the horses and load them into the trailer. You would think Lillian would be indifferent to horses since she sees them every day but that is not the case. This little girl cheered her heart out as the team pulled into the parking lot, harnesses jingling. She cheered so long and so loud one of the grooms gave her a ribbon out of the lead horse's forelock. It was such a pleasant surprise!
Thankfully neither of us were sick for long and we quickly resumed our normal daily activities. My belly is growing and so is the little babe inside. Now that I am in the midst of the second trimester my nausea has disappeared and I am not as tired as I was a few weeks ago.
I checked out a few books from the library about having a new baby in the house. Lillian hasn't been very interested in them. She prefers reading about The Big Bad Wolf, trucks, tractors, and George.
My dad, Lillian's Papa, bought her a miniature Dyson and she loves to vacuum with me at night before she goes to bed. It really sucks up dirt so it is a toy that is actually helpful!
Josh and I celebrated Valentine's Day by finding out the sex of our baby. She wiggled around so much the doctor had a difficult time taking all her measurements but we were able to see she is a little girl. Yippee! I am so excited to be the mother of not one, but TWO little girls!
Josh worked on Valentine's Day so Lillian and I celebrated the day ourselves. It was fun but now Lillian only wants to eat heart shaped pancakes, round pancakes just aren't' good enough.
In between Josh's quad and snowboard adventures this month we were able to go to the Sample Store (as Lillian calls it) and teach Lillian to pedal her tricycle.
These two had quiet a battle going. Lillian wanted to be pushed, Josh wouldn't push her unless she pedaled. They are both very stubborn so it was a long battle that ended with Lillian's feet duct taped to her pedals.
Even with her feet stuck in place she was a determined little girl.
I am the one who eventually won, using trickery of course. If you start pushing her she will continue to pedal even after you let go!
The weather has been so nice we have spent the majority of our days outside. A friend from the barn gave this princess tent to Lillian and it has been the source of much entertainment.
Lillian has now reached an age where she loves playing with the neighbor kids. Most evenings all three kids play until it is too dark to see. I enjoy seeing her learn how to interact with other little people and use her imagination. The neighbor boy, Noah, lets Lillian borrow is sports car sometimes and I can't help but laugh when I see her zip around in it. Her favorite thing to do is pretend to go to the store for milk, cookies, and gumballs. She will park her car, get her purse, and collect rocks to act as her food at the store.
Lillian also makes a great baking buddy and follows directions pretty well. I do have to be careful because she likes to taste EVERYTHING as we go through a recipe.
As time flies by, I find myself working extra hard to take time to stop and smell the flowers in life. Pretty soon I will have two little girls and these one-on-one days with Lillian will be far and few between. She is just so much fun to be with. In the evenings when I talk to Josh I find myself crying with laughter as I tell him the adventures of our days together.
I am so very blessed to have this funny Valentine in my life.
XOXOXO
