My Summer

Every summer people ask me, "What are you going to do with yourself this summer?" I always find something worthwhile to do but this summer has been the best summer I have had in years. Every morning I wake up at 5:00 am, sometimes earlier, and I go ride with an amazing group of women at Wellspring Farm, located at Raven Ranch. I have had the opportunity to meet women with the same love of horses I have, I have learned about riding, and I have fallen in love with some fabulous horses. This is Wellspring Farm's barn aisle. I have never seen it looking this empty or this clean! There are usually horses and girls every where.
This is the ring where all the magic happens.

Quinn and Mari make a great pair. Quinn is still a baby and has a serious case of ADD but Mari puts up with him and loves him any way.

Probably the most quirky pair in the barn, Colonel Betsy and Otter Pop have a great sense of humor.

Toni and Rhett and the cutest pair I have ever seen. Toni spoils Rhett and he takes very good care of her.

Cisco is our only paint horse in the barn and is much loved by Ava.

Gillian, Quinn's much more mature and sophisticated sister, is the Prima Dona of the barn and a true lady.

Saderma, is the only horse that even comes close to matching Gigi's size. She is a talented mare who pounds the ground like a freight train!

Eddie has been hanging out all summer do to surgery on his throat, poor guy. He is Quinn and Gillian's older brother.

It is always fun to watch Zeke and Melissa take a lesson. An ex-race horse and event horse, even at the age of 20 Zeke can leave every horse in a cloud of dust.

Pi, is the babysitter of the bunch. She puts up with everything and anything! She truly is a saint.

If Ritoque were a human he would be a really hot, really talented, surfer from Southern California. He is Susie's pride and joy and her first ride of the day.

Cori is a tricky fella. When he feels like behaving he is like riding on a giant marshmallow cloud. When he is in a feisty mood he has the tendency to leap in the air and kick out all 4 feet at once.

Last but not least, we have Tommy. Tommy belongs to Susie's mom Patty. He is a grouchy old man who does not like to be told what to do. If you want him to do something you better say please!

I am missing pictures of a few horses and more than a few people. Rudy is my favorite horse to ride because I feel like I am riding a giraffe. Zena truly is a warrior princess. Yankee is your typical junior high aged boy who can not keep his mind on any one thing for more than a few minutes. Junior is the oldest of the bunch, and Melody is a mare full of heart and scope.

I need to get Mari, Ava, Emma, Susie, Betsy, Toni, Rhonda and the other women in the barn together for a photo so you can see these amazing women and the love and talent they have with horses. I am so thankful for all the time I have been able to spend with them and I hope to be able to continue hanging around and helping them for a long time.
