Our first vacation this summer was one of the best vacations I have ever been on. We went to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic with our friends Kevin and Sarah. We stayed at the all-inclusive Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and had a blast.
Josh was very excited when we were escorted to our room and he found out not only could he order room service 24 hours a day but he could sit in our private hot tub while eating it!
The resort had 15 restaurants so we ate to our hearts' content. Everything was so good.
Each day was full of adventure. I think Josh finally caught the travel-bug that has plagued me my entire life. It was such an eye-opening, inspirational experience to travel to another country and learn about its customs and culture.
As we drove through the city I was dazzled by all the beautiful homes painted in bright colors. I found out at Christmas, instead of hanging lights, everyone paints their homes! Each color represents a different saint.
We visited Dona Maria's coffee and cocoa plantation where I bought some of the best hot chocolate I have ever tasted.
These are cocoa beans drying in the sun.
We also got to eat bananas right off the tree. Yum!
My favorite adventure was probably zip lining in the jungle. I soared down 8 zip lines

We also went snorkeling in the reefs surrounding the island.
We played beach volleyball in the rain.
And of course we relaxed and enjoyed the warm water, endless Miami Vices (virgin pina colada and virgin daiquiri mixed together).
After our trip to Punta Cana we met Josh's family in the White Mountains for the Padilla Forest Family Fun Fest.
We love taking the dogs on this trip every summer because they love to run through the forest and swim in the river with us. The entire family brings their dogs so there are about 3 dogs for every 1 person!
This is my favorite log. I like to lay on it with my puppies and dry off in the sun.
On one of our walks through the forest we encountered a baby Rattle Snake. Justin, Josh's brother, quickly scooped him up and got him out of the way of all the dogs.

We came home from camping long enough to unpack and then repack and then took off for our annual trip to San Diego.
We did lots of BBQing this year. My dad even helped! I have never seen him man a grill before, it is far too normal a task for him!
Each year we take our picture in front of our cabin. The sight of 506 always warms my heart.
