Wellspring Farm Summer Horse Camp

My first week of summer camp turned out very well. We had six great kids ranging from five to twelve. The ages were very different from what I am used to teaching so I had to approach things differently than I would with my eighth graders but it was a good learning experience for me. I was also pleased with the amount of support I had from other barn members. Everyone was very helpful and patient even though there were times I had all the cross-ties occupied, bridles dismantled, and kids cantering around the ring.

We spent the hottest part of our days decorating horse shoes, making horse book marks, stick horses, and flower pots.

In the mornings we tried to get in as much horse time as possible. The kids learned horse safety, breeds and colors, and nutrition and feeding.

And then of course we learned about how to properly care for your horse. The kids were great about scrubbing water troughs, mucking stalls and sweeping the tack room. Rather than complaining they smiled and laughed the entire time.

Thank you everyone for all of your help. I had a fantastic time and I can't wait for the July summer camp to begin. There are still some openings so let your family and friends know. To see more photos of the Wellspring Farm Summer Horse Camp go to
