Wild Life

A week ago Friday, as I was leaving my dad's house, I found this little baby bunny in the road. He was laying there dazed and confused with a huge cut on his head that went down to the bone. As I approached him I could hear Josh's voice in my head, "Leave it alone Ryann. Let nature take its course." He was so cute and so scared I couldn't leave him there to get hit by a car or eaten by an owl so I scooped him up and took him home with me. He spent the night in a box on the kitchen counter and the next day, during my planning period at school, I took him to a wildlife rehabilitator near by. The rehabilitation center was nothing more than an old house with a screened in porch and cages stacked outside. An old woman and her assistant were busy feeding, watering, and medicating orphaned quail chicks, a baby owl, an injured hawk, and many other amazing animals from here in the southwest. I wanted so badly to spend the day following them around.
I thought about this poor little bunny all week and finally found out that he is doing just fine. I was told when he is ready to be re-released they will call me and I can go pick him up and take him back to my dad's where I found him. This gave me so much joy to know there are people out there that love animals the way I do. I can't wait to see his scarred little face hopping around at my dad's house again.
