Pumpkin Pick and Smash!

We really partied it up in November! Looking back through all the photos I find myself wondering how in the world we fit so much in!  The month started off with a bang when I volunteered to help a friend set up for the Sahuarita Stake Festival.  That involved three days of picking and hauling pumpkins, another day painting signs, a day setting up decorations, and another day cooking enough pulled pork to feed approximately 1000 people.  It was a hot sweaty mess but everything turned out just fine despite broken down trucks, burnt churros, migraines, and sore backs.
This isn't even all the pumpkins we picked. We had a trailer and three other vehicles full of pumpkins!

The next day we were so sick of pumpkins we took the leftovers out into the desert and shot them.  Thank goodness I don't have to see any pumpkins for another year!

For the third year in a row, we attended the All Souls Procession in Tucson. We love attending this event and look forward to it all year.  Over the years we have roped more and more people into going with us and now they love it too!

At one of the stages downtown, they had an acrobatics show going on. Freya was mesmerized!  Now she tells me she wants to join the circus and dangle from ribbons.

Our little town happens to be surrounded by one of the world's largest irrigated pecan groves. Every November we attend the Pecan Festival and watch as the pecans are harvested and shelled. It makes for a fun day.  The girls look forward to eating homemade ice cream topped with pecans and making jump ropes out of hay string.

I have been blessed with a great group of friends. Mid-month I helped throw a baby shower for one of these dear ladies.  We went with a cactus theme and I LOVE how everything turned out! Josh made all the cactus with his 3D printer, we played reverse charades, and hit a saguaro pinata filled with face masks, cute socks, jewelry, nail polish, and perfume. It was probably the most fun I have ever had at a baby shower!

Next, the girls and I flew to Utah to spend Thanksgiving with my family.

It was a short trip.  We were there just long enough to help cook Thanksgiving dinner,
make turkey cookies,

craft,
and tote kitties around.

We also kicked off Christmas by going to see The Grinch and meeting Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

After spending a few days with cute baby kittens, this guy seemed like an even bigger fatty lump than he did before we left!  For a minute I was worried the girls would ask to trade him in for a younger, slimmer model, but they didn't.  They love their kitty too much!  It is a pity for them that he prefers their dad, the one person who did not want him to join our family!

In between all of that, I managed to run a Wonder Woman 10K as a warm up for my upcoming half marathon training.  It was fun and I ended up with some cool Wonder Woman swag.

Josh was able to attend Freya's preschool class and give a fire demonstration to the kids. She loved having her cool dad there and had fun showing him off to her friends.

We also spent plenty of time at Papa's house hanging out with our animals and helping Josh work on my tack room.

We managed to get Christmas lights hung up on our house before December and the girls were a huge help.
Parties and events are always fun but it is the little things in life that make me happy. Those are the things I want to hang on to and remember.  For example, the girls love it when Josh carries them upstairs to bed. This is their favorite way to be carried. They call it The Backpack.  It doesn't look comfortable at all to me but they can't get enough of it!
Freya comes up with the best outfits and then has no problem wearing them out in public. No outfit is too crazy, too ugly, or too inappropriate for her and we love all her fashion creations.

One night at the dinner table we went around and made the ugliest faces we could. It was hilarious! We finished our meal looking like pig people. THE. BEST.
These two little girls make my world go round. They are always up for an adventure and they make our adventures fun.
