I Have a Kindergartner!

Upon returning home from Utah we stepped right back in to our "normal" life. It was like we had never left. After being home just a few days we met up with family to celebrate cousin Vaughn's 8th birthday and her baptism in to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  It was a special day for Vaughn and I am glad we were able to be a part of it.

We had a life changing event occur in August that was exciting, scary, and heartbreaking all at the same time.  Lillian started kindergarten!  A few days before school started she was able to go see her new classroom and meet her teacher, Mrs. Groth. She left that meeting feeling excited and ready for her new adventure.

Her first day of school was a success.  I spent the day in a state of unbelief.  I just could not believe this day had already arrived. She may be ready to leave me for school but I am not ready for her to be gone.

It has taken us the entire month to get used to our new schedule.  Sometimes at night Lillian still cries and tells me she doesn't want to go to school because she misses us.  One night she really pulled my heart strings when she said,"Sometimes I need you during the day and you aren't there!"  I had to explain to her that I know she is strong enough, brave enough, and smart enough to go to school with out me. I wouldn't send her if she wasn't. I think that helped.
We live just under a mile away from the school so we walk to school in the morning and walk back to pick Lillian up in the afternoon.  Freya and I are both excited to see Lillian and hear all about her day.  Freya loves to tell her what she missed while she was at school and see all the school work Lillian brings home.  I love walking with them to and from school, mostly because Lillian holds my hand the whole way no matter how sweaty our hands get!

Freya and I have kind of started to get our own routine going while Lillian is at school.  We play together,

go to Story Time and Toddler Time at the club house where we live,
hang out with our animals at Papa's house,
and play with friends at the park or the pool.
On the weekends we tried to do fun things together so Lillian didn't feel like she missed out on all the good stuff.
Amongst other things, one Sunday after church we played and picnicked with friends in Madera Canyon.

And another weekend we went to a fun birthday party with friends.

We had a second life changing event occur in August.  The Tucson Temple was dedicated.  We had a lovely time at the Cultural Celebration which was put on by the Tucson youth.  I feel so blessed that my girls will be able to grow up in a city with a temple.  Being able to attend the temple without driving at least 4 hours round trip will be heavenly!

August left us all pretty exhausted.  It was kind of rough.  I am hoping we get this school thing figured out before we all lose our minds!
