A Year and a Half

Upon first sitting down to write this, I thought, "What am I going to say?  We didn't even do anything this month!"  However, looking back at the pictures, it appears we did LOTS of fun things in September.  So many fun things in fact, it was difficult to choose what to keep and what to toss.  So here goes!

I pulled two old dusty toys out of the attic at my dad's house for Lillian to play with. The first is this rocking horse.  She took an immediate liking to it and even hops off periodically to pat it and kiss it on the nose.
The second was this old crusty tricycle.  Most people don't know I have a love for tricked out beach cruisers.  If I had the means and the space, I would buy one in San Diego every summer.  When I saw this sad little trike I knew there was no way my little pumpkin butt was going to be stuck riding a lemon.
BEFORE:
Lillian still hasn't caught on to the whole pedaling thing but she does enjoy a push around the neighborhood every now and again.
AFTER:

Growing up, I had a similar tricycle.  It wasn't as cool as Lillian's Lady Bug but it did the job.

The first week in September my mom came down from Utah to babysit Lillian's cousins while my aunt and uncle went hunting.  We had lots of fun playing together.  Leighton enjoyed not being the baby for once and quickly started babying Lillian.
We spent one morning running around Target playing.  People could not get over these two little blondies.  "The look like little cherubs!" "Oh what angels!"  "Are they twins?"  They were just bombarded with praise.  Lillian was not satisfied with one popper and pushed two all over the store.  I am pretty sure we drove the Target employees a little crazy.
I just can't get over how cute they look sitting here together, nicely playing the piano.  It looks like they are playing Chop Sticks!
The kids had fun grooming and riding Beauty and playing with all the dangerous things my dad has laying around his house.

Lillian graduated from her basket saddle to a real saddle.  Her feet don't reach the stirrups but she does a good job hanging on.
About mid month Lillian decided she no longer needed the high chair.  After a great deal of coaxing I did get her to sit on a booster seat so she could actually see her food on the table.  Watching her eat at the table made me realize my infant really is gone.  She is an opinionated little toddler who is quickly moving into girlhood. I have to admit I shed a few tears.
Josh was away most of the month bow hunting so Lillian and I had plenty of time to party together. Here are a few of the things we did:
We turned on the show tunes and used out motor skills,

 ate homemade goo,
baked,
went out the dogie door,
practiced our modeling poses,
bathed Gigi,
cleaned tack,
walked the dogs,

showered (Lillian's new favorite activity),
and redecorated the guest bathroom.

Then Josh came home and we were all happy. He was happy because he got an elk and we were happy because our other BFF was home to play.  Lillian loves her Da-da and enjoys playing with him and helping him work on his projects.

Towards the end of the month we defrosted the top of Lillian's first birthday cake and sang her, "Happy Half Birthday to You!!" and celebrated her 18 month birthday.  WOW! A year and a half has gone by already.  Sometimes I just can't believe how far we have come and how fast time is whizzing by.
