Last night, while I was feeding the horses, I noticed a little bird laying on the ground. At first, I thought it was a baby bird, which struck me as odd, but when I approached it, I realized it was a hummingbird. I gently scooped him up and carried him inside to get warm. He could slowly flap his wings but he wasn't able to get airborne. After about 20 minutes he decided he was ready to take flight. Unfortunately, we were still in the house! He ended up in the bathroom skylight where he sat perched on the smallest of ledges. He was very stubborn and would not leave his ledge even when I got the broom! Finally, I went out to the carport and got the ladder. I was able to grab him and carry him outside where he fluttered off to be with his friends.
