We started January in snow covered Utah and ended in sunny Arizona. Before we said goodbye to all the cousins we had to go sledding. Lillian was a sledding maniac! She would run up the hill, throw down her sled, and leap on as it sped down the mountain! We all had so much fun together. It was hard to say goodbye.
We were the last of the group to head back to Arizona so we had a few extra days to play with Nona and Auntie Sam (and her exotic animals). While we were visiting Nona, Freya kept going in to her pantry, getting a box of cake mix, and bringing it to Nona. She probably did it 10 times every day. Before we drove home Nona made the cake with her. More of the cake mix ended up on Freya than in the cake pan but Freya didn't complain!
Lillian is brave, Freya...not so much, so I was surprised when she held Auntie Sam's reptiles and enjoyed it.
We were sad to leave the snow behind but we finally made it home.
Even though we were sad to leave Nona, Ppa, and Sam, we were happy to see our friends again. We had a great time hiking around Madera Canyon with them while the weather is still cool.
We found a water fall,
a great fort,
and lots of rocks to throw in the river.
We also had a great time at the zoo. The weather was so nice all the animals were out and active.
Of all the animals at the zoo, I think Lillian enjoys the birds the most. She loves walking around with her "map" looking for all the different species.
Freya likes the "Quack Quacks".
I love feeding the giraffes the most! Denver was very friendly. We not only fed her carrots, we also got to pet her face (we got in trouble but it was worth it)!
Another exciting thing that happened in January was the start of soccer season. Lillian has been asking to play soccer for almost a year now. She was ecstatic when we found a 3-4 year old team for her to play on with her friend Sophie. They are now Tiny Titans!
There was more spinning going on in their first game than actual soccer playing, but they are slowly getting better.
Lillian likes to practice at the park with Dad. Sometimes Freya even plays but usually she would rather eat a snack.
More often than not, practicing turns in to goofing around.
Lillian also likes to work on our trucks with her dad. She gets out her tool set and gets right to work. When I ask her what she is fixing she always just shrugs her shoulders. It makes me laugh. At least she looks legit, right?
One Saturday we had a blowout on the truck while we were pulling the trailer. Thankfully we were out in the middle of nowhere next to a bunch of alfalfa fields. While Josh changed the tire on the truck, I was able to show Lillian how fields are irrigated. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
January was good to us. We got back in to a routine after the busy holidays and enjoyed our days. I am trying to soak up all the time I can with Lillian before she is off to preschool later this year. Having these two little girls in my life is THE.BEST. I just want them to stay with me like this forever.
