Last week, I went with Susie and two other riders at Wellspring Farm to a horse show at The Oaks in San Juan Capistrano, CA. It was beautiful!
It was Gigi's first time showing at an "A" show and she was pretty nervous and naughty the first day of competition.
Each day new, more intimidating jumps appeared in the rings. We ooohhhhed and aaahhhhed over them and I was amazed when I finally found the endless supply.

There were cute horse show dogs, sneaky horse show dogs (one got into our tack room and ate our snacks!), and bad horse show dogs who peed all over our stuff. This guy was my favorite.
The Grand Prix field was giant and had some frightening jumps. Watching the horses and riders made me very excited about Gigi's future.
The main hunter ring was gorgeous and made me miss Welcome.
By the end of the week Gigi kind of looked like she knew what she was doing. Kudos to Susie for getting the job done. After this show the rest of the show season should be a breeze for Gigi! Nothing we have at home is nearly as scary!
Toni and Rhett were stars and placed in almost every class.
The weather was actually cooling off there in California, so we got to bust out our vests and jackets.
The highlight of the show for me was having the opportunity to watch the World Cup qualifying class. The World Cup is the single most important annual International Championship in the equestrian sport. There were twenty one riders in the class from USA, MEX, PUR, AUS, and BRA. We were able to see one of the gold medalists from the USA Olympic team ride!
