Having a large family means I get lots and lots of hand-me-downs. I don't think I had a new mattress until I got married. Prior to that, every bed I ever slept in had been slept in by a cousin or an aunt before me. When Josh and I moved in to our own home we were lucky enough to have almost our entire house furnished with hand-me-down couches, tables, chairs, dressers, dishes, you name it!
Our most recent hand-me-down is a refrigerator. This is the third refrigerator to find its way into our home. I am not a fan of cleaning refrigerators and after spending several hours cleaning our second fridge, I told Josh I never wanted to clean a fridge again. So when he asked me if I wanted his dad's old refrigerator I told him only if I didn't have to clean it.
When I opened the door that evening and Josh screamed and shielded the fridge with his body, I knew there was going to be trouble. He had been cleaning the fridge with his brother for several hours and it was still one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen.
Emerson was very helpful. He loosened the grime on the shelves and drawers before we washed them.
In the end we got it clean but I still refuse to drink water out of it or eat the ice. Maybe in a few months I will be brave enough to try it...
