For the Third Quarter Pep Assembly a group of us teachers got together and, led by the assistant principal, came up with a dance routine to a funky mix of songs. We weren't sure how the kids would take our performance, if their jaws would drop or if we'd be booed off the court but we thought it would be fun to show them a different side of all of us.
When the day came we were all full of nervous energy. Our shirts were bedazzled, our dance moves were memorized, and we were ready to rock! To our surprise the kids screamed like banshees the second we walked out. I couldn't even hear the music over their cries. We were an instant success. In fact, we were so popular we had to do an encore! I felt like a celebrity as students I didn't even know yelled my name and came up to me after the performance to ohhh and ahhh. One little boy said, "Miss, will the Funkstangs be at the next Pep Assembly too?" It was so much fun!
